Saturday, 25 November 2017

The Gordon has won the country's most prestigious award in vocational education and training (VET) provision, Australian Large Training Provider of the Year.

This national honour was announced at the Australian Training Awards held in Canberra on Thursday night, 23 November.

Gordon CEO, Lisa Line, said, “we are delighted that we are Australia’s best large training provider. Our staff work tirelessly, with vigour and drive, to make the student experience as valuable and as rewarding as we can. In our commitment to meet industry’s needs, now and into the future, we make sure that our students graduate with the skills, experience and outcomes they need to thrive in their chosen career.”

“This award is the culmination of collective efforts at The Gordon. Thank you to all our staff, students and partners for making this outstanding achievement possible. This is a tremendously proud moment for all of us,” Ms Line continued.

The Gordon, a recognised leader in providing positive skills-based experiences, demonstrated outstanding student-centric competency-based learning and organisational excellence and was acknowledged for its significant role in skilling the region, its contribution to the national skills base, and the economic and social benefits these bring to both industry and community.

Justin Giddings, Chair of The Gordon Board, who also attended the event, said, “this important award emphasises our leadership in the sector and the positive impact we continue to make.”

Earlier this year The Gordon also won the Victorian Large Provider of the Year and celebrated 130 years of providing quality training.

The Gordon is a member of Study Geelong and provides practical training in a safe and supportive environment, resulting in The Gordon's graduates being job ready.
